Domaine E & E Vocoret
Updated Sep 2022
Edouard Vocoret is the scion of one of Chablis’ well-known families. He met Eleni (née Theodoropoulos) when they were both working in New Zealand, after which he apprenticed with the excellent Daniel Barraud (Pouilly Fuissé) while Eleni worked with Vincent Dauvissat who has given them a great deal of help in setting up their own domaine in Chablis. They have now built a small winery on the road to Chichée, and are bottling their three different terroirs of Chablis separately: the clay rich Boucheron, the well-exposed slopes of Pargues and Bas de Chapelot at the foot of Montée de Tonnerre. There is also a small holding of 1er cru Butteaux.
Vineyard treatments are organic but not certified. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural yeasts. Vinification is in stainless steel and maturation in barrel, with little new wood, reflecting the Dauvissat influence. Together they make impressive, structured, relatively full-bodied Chablis.
Starting in 2023, Edouard and Eleni Vocoret have gained a slew of vineyards from the Vocoret family domaine: Forêts, Montée de Tonnerre, Séchets, Chatains, Butteaux and grands crus Clos, Valmur, and Blanchot. They will relinquish some of their village Chablis in order not to have more than they can manage overall.
