Domaine Rougeot Père & Fils

Updated Sep 2022

Pierre-Henri has been vinifying the Rougeot wines since 2010 but only gave up his other employment to work full time at the domaine from April 2019. There have now been 9 generations of Rougeots in Meursault and 4 at the current address. It was Pierre-Henri’s grandfather Hubert, well known as mayor of Meursault and also for his flourishing construction company, who really developed the viticultural domaine.

There are 12.5ha of vines, mostly in Meursault (including the generics) with the domaine becoming certified organic from 2020. Pierre-Henri has also readily adopted a low (or where possible no) sulphur approach. The latter have different labels, in diagonal format with just the name of the lieu-dit evident in front. This is a high risk strategy, with some wines showing an aspect of volatility, but otherwise Pierre-Henri is one of the most exciting producers in Meursault. He also swaps some of his white grapes (Bourgogne Blanc and Meursault) for grapes from other appellations to enlarge the range. These appear under the Pierre-Henri Rougeot label.
