Marquis de Laguiche, Joseph Drouhin

Updated Sep 2022

The Laguiche family owned a significant proportion of Le Montrachet before the French Revolution, and although the marquis of the time unfortunately went to the guillotine, his family emerged in the early 19th century still owning – or once again owning – half the vineyard. They remain the largest owners today, with two hectares. In addition to this, the Laguiche family own a tiny amount of Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru Chenevottes and a more substantial holding of premier cru Morgeot which is now bottled under that name. The vineyards are managed by the Laguiche team, though in discussion with Philippe Drouhin of Maison Joseph Drouhin, which house then vinifies and matures the wine before bottling it under the Laguiche label.
