Philippe Colin
Updated Sep 2022
Philippe Colin set up in modern premises in the industrial zone of Chassagne with his share of the Colin-Deleger vineyards, along with others which he has acquired or rents. Philippe is fortunate to get two bites at the Puligny Demoiselles cherry – his own small plot which has just been replanted, and a share of the fruit from the mature plot belonging to the SCI St-Abdon.
The Philippe Colin style is for elegance and subtlety ahead of overt weight and power. He has moved to using mostly larger barrels, without a significant proportion of new wood. The wines are closed using corks with a layer of wax above the cork but below the top of the bottle, then covered with a standard capsule.
From the 2021 vintage Philippe has handed over a number of vineyards to his son, Simon, who now makes them under his own label. Philippe also migrates from time to time to South Africa where he purchased a winery, Topiary, in Franschhoek in 2014.
