Jasper Morris MW  Apr 2019

Written: January 2019

The first full week in January keeps the Eurostar busy as Burgundian vignerons flock to London to show off their new vintage. I took advantage of the 2019 version, with the 2017 vintage on display, to taste a large range of wines from producers whom I had not been able to visit the previous autumn. Notes are never quite so full as they would be from tastings at the domaine, but they nonetheless are good indicators with one qualification: there are clearly variations in the freshness of the samples. I have therefore discarded individual notes (and occasional all the samples from a producer) where I have not been satisfied that the sample was likely to be representative.
