Though originally from Volnay, Edmond Delagrange-Bachelet (1910-96) was one of Chassagne’s great 20th-century characters. His daughter Marie-Josèphe married Jacques Gagnard (died 2009) and they in turn had two daughters, Laurence and Claudine, who married respectively Richard Fontaine and Jean-Marc Blain. Now it is the turn of Céline Fontaine, married to Frédéric Robert who used to work at Domaine Armand Rousseau, and of Marc-Antonin Blain.
Jacques Gagnard’s brother Jean-Noël Gagnard (born 1926) developed his own domaine, currently run by his daughter Caroline Lestimé. Here too the next generation is starting to join in (see below).
