The de Montlivaut family purchased the Domaine de Blagny in 1811. For most of the second half of the 20th century the domaine was maintained by the widowed Comtesse de Montlivault, with the grapes being sold off in bulk. The property has subsequently been split into two halves, one via her daughter Anne, Comtesse de Cherisey whose daughter and son-in-law, Helene and Laurent Martelet have 9 hectares. The other via her son Jean-Louis, whose son-in-law Etienne de Bréchard has recently taken up domaine bottling for the remaining 7 hectares, which are slowly being brought back under his control from share-croppers. The proportion being sold to négociants is being steadily diminished.
A new cuverie was constructed for Domaine Chapelle de Blagny in 2015 providing excellent working conditions and indeed the space to expand when they finally make all their own wine themselves.
