In the Côte de Nuits

I spent yesterday morning (Monday 7th August) in the Côte de Nuits, walking through the vines from Chambolle-Musigny to Gevrey-Chambertin. The veraison seems as far advanced here as in the Côte de Beaune, and I note that there are ads for pickers in the local paper as from the start of September. The yields don’t look enormous, especially higher on the slopes, but the hail on 10th July seems to have damaged leaves (see above) more than bunches in Morey-St-Denis. It is raining this morning (Tuesday 8th), but otherwise the forecast is reasonably sound through to the end of the month.
